Ghanaian influencer and entrepreneur Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng, popularly known as “SoAfrican,” has been arrested by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service over allegations involving the non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate videos of women.

According to reports, the arrest followed investigations into a Telegram channel allegedly operated by the suspect where explicit content involving victims was shared without consent. Authorities also claim the case may involve the use of sedatives, including midazolam, with some victims reportedly being foreigners.

Police reportedly retrieved phones, laptops, hard drives, and other digital devices during the operation as investigations continue.

The arrest, announced around May 12, 2026, has sparked intense conversations across Ghanaian social media, particularly on X, where many users are calling for justice for victims and stricter action against online sexual exploitation and privacy abuse.

The case has quickly become one of Ghana’s biggest cybercrime stories this year, reigniting discussions around consent, digital safety, and accountability in the social media era.
